VALENTINE TO GOD – BE MINE

OUR 7 DAY SCRIPTURE PRAYER CHALLENGE

LOVE HIM MOST

Psalm 119:37

Turn my eyes away from vanity [all those worldly, meaningless things that distract—let Your priorities BE MINE], And restore me [with renewed energy] in Your ways.

USE THE NEXT 7 DAYS TO TELL GOD HOW MUCH YOU LOVE HIM AND WANT TO KNOW HIM MORE, PLEASE HIM MORE, AND BE COMPLETELY HIS.

LOVEBEMINE

DAY 1:

Matthew 6:31-33

31 Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ 32 For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

Father, thank you for your love for me.  I want to grow in my love for you like never before. There are so many concerns all around us, help me to not be anxious about anything. I know you will supply all of my needs, as well as the needs of those I am praying for.  I want to fully seek your Kingdom and your righteousness first. Help me to be like you,  reflecting your attitude and character in all I do. I trust that if I do this, all things will be given to me.

DAY 2: Matthew 22:37-39

37 And Jesus replied to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’

Father, May I truly love you with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my mind. Show me if I have anything in my heart above you.  Teach me to love my neighbor, seeking the best or higher good for everyone. I want to fulfill your greatest 2 commandments which are really all about love.

DAY 3: 1 John 4:8

The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]

God, I want to know you.  Help me to be fully acquainted with you. You are Love and You are the originator of love. May Your enduring attribute of love, your nature become full within me. I know you created me in Your image, and nothing is impossible with You.

DAY 4: Deuteronomy 6:5

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength [your entire being].

Lord, I want to love you with my entire being. Help me to really love you with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul, and with all my strength. I want this love to be obvious to all. Be mine now and always Yahweh!

DAY 5:  Deuteronomy 7:9

Therefore know [without any doubt] and understand that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who is keeping His covenant and His [steadfast] lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

May I know without doubt, and truly understand who You are. You are a Faithful Father. I know You keep Your Word and Your covenants. I believe you are Love, and you would never lie. I have seen and I have felt your lovingkindness, and I know it is extended to a thousand generations. May my love be true; I want to keep your commandments!

DAY 6: Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.

I want to please you, God. I do believe you are faithful, May my walk with you please you. I draw near to you with all my heart. I believe you not only exist, but also reward those who earnestly and diligently seek You.  I am sincerely and diligently seeking You. From this day forward, I will moment by moment choose faith over doubt or fear. May my faith grow day by day as it is my desire to please you with all my heart.

DAY 7: Deuteronomy 10:12

12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear [and worship] the Lord your God [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect], to walk [that is, to live each and every day] in all His ways and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul [your choices, your thoughts, your whole being],

Lord God, I want to fear and worship you with awe-filled reverence and profound respect. Help me to live each  and every day in all of Your ways. May I love and serve you with all MY heart, with all MY soul, with MY choices, with all MY thoughts, and with MY entire being. BE MINE!

God: You are Mine-Malachi 3:17

17 “They will be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “on that day when I publicly recognize them and openly declare them to be My own possession [that is, My very special treasure]. And I will have compassion on them and spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.”

I Am Your Avenger

God is Our Avenger! We must always remember to give Him space to do just that-exact satisfaction for (a wrong) by punishing the wrongdoer! Following God’s ways are always the high way to this life.

I love the example found in 1 Samuel 24 when David spares Saul’s life:

david_cut_robe

When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “Behold, David is in the Wilderness of Engedi.”  Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel and went to search for David and his men in front of the Rocks of the Wild Goats.

On the way he came to the sheepfolds where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the cave’s innermost recesses. David’s men said to him, “Behold, this is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold, I will hand over your enemy to you, and you shall do to him as seems good to you.’” Then David arose [in the darkness] and stealthily cut off the hem (edge) of Saul’s robe.

Afterward, David’s conscience bothered him because he had cut off the hem of Saul’s robe. He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the Lord’s anointed, to put out my hand against him, since he is the anointed of the Lord.” So David strongly rebuked his men with these words and did not let them rise up against Saul. Saul got up, left the cave and went on his way.

Then David also got up afterward and went out of the cave and called after Saul, saying, “My lord the king!” And when Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the ground and lay himself face down. David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘David seeks to harm you?’

Behold, your eyes have seen today how the Lord had given you into my hand in the cave. Some told me to kill you, but I spared you; I said, ‘I will not reach out my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s anointed.’ Look, my father! Indeed, see the hem of your robe in my hand! Since I cut off the hem of your robe and did not kill you, know and understand [without question] that there is no evil or treason in my hands. I have not sinned against you, though you are lying in wait to take my life. May the Lord judge between me and you; and may the Lord avenge me on you; but my hand shall not be against you.”

Have you ever been in a position where you can easily speak solid truth about a person that would put an end to them and their relentless attacks against you or your character? Have you been in a place where you knew something from personal experience about a leader, co-worker or even a so-called friend or close family member that would take them down? Have you had someone lie about you, and say all manner of evil against you; and though many try to get you to speak evil of them, you refuse even knowing this truth be told could greatly benefit you?

I have been in situations many times where I felt just like David must have felt. I have felt like I was dodging arrows or swords by people’s actions or words against me, even when I had tried repeatedly to submit to, to forgive,  to encourage or to befriend them. All the while having others relentlessly try to get me to say words of gossip or negativity against this perpetrator who was continually treating me like Saul treated David. Every time,  I usually would hear the Lord say, “Choose my way, I Am Your Avenger!” In every intensely difficult situation, I can honestly say, He has been my Avenger!

I love to tell my children about a lady whom I thought was one of my best friends. She really started showing her true colors when I announced my engagement to be married.  After the announcement, she proceeded to engage in an all out attack against me, and vamped toward my future spouse.

I was a newly born-again Christian at the time, and I was, but even remain, pretty naive regarding people. I always think highly of everyone and this has bit me in the butt on more than one occasion.  Anyway to make a long story short, one day she was in Louisiana, and a few days later she was in Norway. He will be your ever present help! Wow, God moved quickly in that situation!

God’s higher ways are always the only way to go. His standards were created to help us live life to the fullest, Luke 18:7  “And will not [our just] God defend and avenge His elect [His chosen ones] who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay [in providing justice] on their behalf?”

There may be special situations where this does not apply. Sometimes wisdom needs to be shared and specifics as the Lord leads, and each of us need to seek the Lord’s wise counsel every day to know what He desires. But in the majority of situations with leaders, friends, coworkers, patriarchal situations, and most social contacts I believe this should be the standard.

When the enemy uses others to try to get you to place a sword in your persecutors belly, stop and pray. Seek Him first, and follow His wisdom.  If you do that I can promise you with patience and faith, all things will be restored and added to you!

To Adopt or Not to Adopt, There is Only One Question

swanhidingplace
To adopt or not to adopt. There is only one question:  ” Is  it  God’s desire for me, or my family to be a hiding place for a child in need?”

“And here I felt a strange leaping of my heart…. My job was to simply follow His leading one step at a time, holding every decision up to him in prayer.” Corrie  ten Boom, The Hiding Place

I am reminded of Corrie ten Boom and her family in the days when the Jews were so severely persecuted by the Nazis. When the Lord was confirming his will to my husband and I regarding adoption,  we sat watching The Hiding Place.

If you haven’t seen it, please rent it.  It is a riveting film of Corrie ten Boom,  and her family’s beautiful self-sacrificing  lifestyle, as the Lord used them to save many Jews.

I can  hear the words of her sister when asked why she would be involved in such an endeavor, “Truthfully, I’d rather do anything else. I’d like to close the door and never open it again until this whole hideous thing is over, but that’s me. My Lord Jesus tells me to open the door to whatever comes, to give His love in whatever ways I can. And I will listen to His voice, not mine.” Betsie ten Boom, The Hiding Place

Seek His will for your family first.  If He is leading you to adopt, He will confirm it in exceedingly abundant ways.

Years ago the Lord began  enlarging my heart in ways I didn’t understand at the time concerning adoption.  The first time my husband and I had a strange young boy stay with us for the weekend, it completely stressed me way beyond my comfort zone.

Michael felt this troubled boy could benefit by being out of his situation for a few days, and wondered if I would be willing to share our home with him.  Have you ever felt the Lord’s stretching?

First, let me back up just a bit.

Before I met my husband, Michael, an amazing man of God in every way, I thought I knew everything about the Lord.  Michael had been moved by the Lord to forsake all and follow Him into the field of social work.

He remains today,  a man totally sold out to hearing and obeying the Lord’s voice. The Lord began using him to help me see all of the  riches of my relationship with the Lord still to be unlocked.

He was already fathering  my two precious sons from a previous marriage, and with all of his heart was attempting to be a most perfect father to them.  They were suffering greatly from the divorce, and it was terrible to watch.

Let’s get back to the young man I first mentioned.  All I kept thinking about was our two older sons, and how much discomfort they would be experiencing. Hadn’t they gone through enough? How could I put them through added trauma? I knew my only choice was to obey the Lord.

To my surprise, it really didn’t seem to bother them very much at all. I learned so much from having this young man stay with us, about his life, and his culture.  This experience was such a great blessing, and I believe it was good for our family. I almost missed it because of my silly fears.

After the divorce from a previous marriage, I became a born-again Christian, but I had so much to learn.

The Lord’s ever-present help was my only salvation.  His word became my food!  The enemy came at me hard, and at that time, I had no clue about the authority Jesus gave us over all of his work.

Therefore, I became the enemy’s victim, and watched him separate me from my two older sons in ways I never could have imagined.  It was devastating, and I  seriously didn’t think I could make it.

As is always the goodness of the Lord,  He took what the enemy meant for evil and used it for my good.  He enlarged my heart to adoption, and gently took me step by step into blessings I would have missed if I had closed my heart off, and shut the door on His provision.  I was no longer living on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of my God.

“Do you know what hurts so very much? It’s love. Love is the strongest force in the world, and when it is blocked that means pain. There are two things we can do when this happens. We can kill that love so that it stops hurting. But then of course part of us dies, too. Or we can ask God to open up another route for that love to travel.” Corrie ten Boom, The Hiding Place

I am so very thankful to the Lord for giving me another route for that love to travel.  His blessings of  birth children and  adopted children, each are  a gift, exceedingly abundantly above all I could ever ask or imagine!

Once you have discovered His will, take the next steps He gives. Be sure you are completely saturated by His Holy Spirit who enables us to do all things.

“Trying to do the Lord’s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.” Corrie ten Boom

Counting the cost is a must before you adopt.  Going in, you must realize there may be some adjustments you may have to make, and some sacrificing that will be required.  Never go in blindly.  Ask the Lord to prepare you, and know He is going to make you more than able.

There are no ‘if’s’ in God’s kingdom. His timing is perfect. And no places that are safer than other places. The center of His will is our only safety. His will is our hiding place. Let us pray that we may always know it. “Lord Jesus, keep me in Your will. ”  Corrie ten Boom

Truthfully, until just recently, I haven’t wanted to share much about my adoption experiences.  I love each child so much, and wanted them to be protected.  I have been upset when people would ask if they were all my birth children.  I have hidden them in a hiding place of sorts. I thought it was for them, but I realized it was mostly for me.

Just like the Jews were eventually able to come out from hiding, I am feeling the Lord tugging at me  to share our  testimony so others may know the extreme benefits to enjoy through adoption.

Am I trying to say that adoption can be equated with the  dangerous, self sacrificial beauty of the ten Boom family, not at all.  What I am saying, the need is just as great.

My prayer for you is that you will know His love, know His will, and you will follow His voice.  Ask the Lord, “Am I to be a hiding place for a child needing a family?”

Galatians 4:4-6  “But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”

Woman Is The Glory of Man

Many people have questioned my belief regarding a woman’s role in the church, and my role as my husband’s helpmate. Like any other truth I live by, the way I came was purely Spirit led, and once He has said it,  it has stuck to me like glue, and like Jacob, I can not let go!

I would like to give a brief background of my life to get started.

There I was a bride, newly born again, and very happy, thinking everything was going to be perfect.

I can remember my husband telling me that when his sister first met me she felt I was naive to the prowess of the enemy. How very right she was, since I didn’t have a clue. I started learning that the enemy did not  turn the heat off when I became born-again, but he turned it up that much higher.

Meeting Mike was a dream come true.  The interest he took in my life was a blessing from the Lord. I would never let myself think about him and myself since I was getting a divorce and had two children.

Through the Lord’s grace and mercy, everything changed!  Mike was standing there in the aisle at church on Resurrection Sunday, asking me to marry him.  I had given him up to the Lord, and asked Him for only His best for Mike. Was that really going to be me? If my Daddy in Heaven said I was, I must be.

Our beginnings were rather interesting.  A new father dealing with two sons who were dealing with the harshness of divorce, a born-again mom acting very differently, and many new adjustments.  I had become so liberal with my sons due to the fear of losing them, even the mildest of correction seemed too much for them to handle.

As for me, having married young, then divorced, then leading the family as a single mom, and now learning to trust, and submit, my fears and insecurities were trying to take me over.

Though these days were glorious in so many ways, some things were more than difficult, and like Job, what I feared was coming upon me.  The worst case scenario was my sons deciding to move out of my home. This was devastating given they had been the center of everything prior to becoming born-again.  How could I survive without them?

My Yahweh-sent husband tried everything to help me, but it was only the Lord that sustained me, and His Word became my food.  The Lord met me in incredible ways and His Word gave me life.  The Lord used the scripture found in Deuteronomy 8:3 to keep me alive, “He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.”

I literally went through two Bibles till they fell apart, because of my need within, and the help it was supplying. Revelation was crashing upon me like lightning bolts.

In one of my quiet times, the Lord showed me the following scripture in I Corinthians 11:”For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause the woman ought to have her head covered because of the angels. Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

At the time, the Lord really zoned in on this scripture, and He would continually ask me to reside there, actually for years. What I have learned about Yahweh, once you are willing to tune in regarding a certain area, flood gates open. A river of confirmation overflows until you are completely saturated with this truth. He did this regarding the woman issue, as well as areas of healing, speaking, tongues, baptism, celebrating His appointed feasts, and on and on and on.

I realized I was made for my husband’s glory, and my life’s calling was to see my husband bring glory to the Lord in every way.  It really changed my focus, and allowed me to submit more graciously.

Ministry contacts abounded to us regarding this fact. Personal life experiences were completely echoing what He was teaching, and confirmation upon confirmation was unlocked.

The best part was every time I submitted to this truth, I would get blessed and my husband would be elevated.

This truth is not widely shared in most churches, and so for the most part, I have kept it under wraps, except for how I lived, and how I trained my children.  Most people feel that scriptures such as these were only meant for a particular period of Biblical history.

An example of this is found in I Timothy 2:11 “A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.”  We see here that Paul is making sure this concept gets universal application by referencing the most broad application to women through Eve.

The more I study this issue, the more I am convinced.  I have read respected authors and scholars and pastors take on this.  Still, Holy Spirit’s truth is rock solid.  As for me I prefer to be remembered as Esther, not Vashti!

I won’t try to convince you regarding any of these scriptures. No one could have convinced me about any of it.  Only the Lord can guide us into all truth by His Spirit. If you seek, you will find the scriptures all echo this truth.

My prayer is that we all have eyes to see what we need to see, ears to hear what we need to hear, and hearts that turn to the Lord in everything.

Heavenly Father, Please help us rightly divide every jot and title of Your Word.  See if there be any wicked way in us and lead us in the way that is everlasting. Take us deep inside Your truths to unlock every false belief we may have.!In the name of Yeshua, Jesus, our Savior we pray. Amen!

Our Lord Heals

I can remember when I first began learning in greater detail about Yahweh Rapha, and the stripes Christ bore for my healing. It was an amazing process, and I love how the Lord orchestrates our times of awakening when we are willing to hear.

My sister-in-law had given my husband and I a book by Charles Capps. He talked about how we are already healed, and how we needed to stand against the power of the devil. This book seemed to expect me to appropriate the blood of Christ over myself, my loved ones to see them healed.

At first, I was terrified to read the book.  The very idea that it could be my fault if I get a cold seemed completely silly.  So, I did what I ususally do. By the Lord’s grace, I prayed for truth, and I prayed for my sister-in-law that her eyes would be opened. As an afterthought, I asked the Lord to show me if I was wrong.

It didn’t take very long before, everything in His Word was crying out that I was already healed, and that my thinking needed a major shift. I am so very thankful for the Lord giving us eyes to see what we need to see!

Scriptures began to pour into my husband and I, as we discovered what His Word tuly says about this subject. He began to flood us with the truth. Here are some samples:

Exodus 15:26 And He said, “If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer.”

Exodus 23:25  “But you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water; and I will remove sickness from your midst.

Psalm 41:3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and RESTORES them from their bed of illness.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are HEALED!

Matthew 8:8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be HEALED.”

Matthew 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing EVERY disease and sickness.

Mark 5:34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has HEALED you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Luke 8:50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be HEALED.”

I was beginning to wonder if I had any faith at all. How had I missed the fact that I already was healed by my Savior’s stripes. Didn’t He say, “It is finished!”

On and on this went, as the Lord spoke clearly regarding our healing purchased by Jesus’ stripes.

Duh: It never occurred to me that the enemy would have a strategy against me gaining this wisdom.

One Sunday, my husband and I were planning to lead some children in the salvation prayer. That particular morning, I got a terrible nose bleed which put me in the kitchen dealing with my nose bleed.

Of course everyone huddled around me telling me how unusual it what for me to get a nose bleed out of the blue, and how I needed to get it checked.  Funny, I fell for it, in some ways, but Ha Ha! the Lord  used this foolish ploy of the enemy’s to teach me further.

During this training period, I realized my flesh would go along with the game of the enemy unless I took authority over it.  I would have to tell my nose to stop bleeding which seemed very strange behavior, except for the fact that this was how Jesus would sometimes handle healing.

Notice this account in Luke 4:38-41. Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon Peter. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick with a high fever, and they asked Jesus ·to help her. He came to her side and ·commanded the fever to leave. It left her, and immediately she got up and began serving them. Pretty illuminating!

Next time the enemy tries to put an illness on you, meditate on His promises, and  bring your faith up to a new level. Realize the authority He has given you, and appropriate your healing by rebuking the work of the enemy! Remember what Jesus told Jairus in Luke 8:50: Only Believe!

Matthew 10:1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

May Our Precious Father guide us into all truth regarding the authority He has given us over all the work of the enemy, by His Spirit!

Will Your Husband Be Remembered As Superman or Benedict Arnold?

Do you want your husband to be remembered as a Superman or a Benedict Arnold? What are you doing to hinder or assist your husband’s destiny? That is the question.

I was listening to a CD regarding how important the wife’s role is, in her husband fulfilling his destiny.  As I listened, I learned of some notable historic figures, and the influence of their beloved spouses.  Some had tremendous outcomes, while others had horrible results.

As I thought about the consequences, I couldn’t help but look at my own life in retrospect to see the kind of influence I was having on my very own husband. Was I furthering His God given purpose, or had I done anything to choke it out?

Though my heart was to see him advance fully, I couldn’t help but think of times, I may have said something, or done something that wasn’t completely supportive. Had I influenced him in some way to move away from his calling?

Had any of my fears constrained him from doing what he was born to do? Would he have been farther along without my intervention in some areas?

I needed to further seek this out with all of my heart.  After all, I was a woman who truly believed God’s Word, every jot and title, even the part about being made for the glory of man.

I believe some discussion of the two following historic figures may help get my point across.

The first is Benedict Arnold. Did you know that he was considered a patriot and a hero for much of the Revolutionary War.  History barely mentions any good he did. All we remember is his name as the word for a traitor.

Benedict fought against the British forces bravely, and Congress made him a brigadier general because of his prowess. Though he had some ups and downs, it wasn’t until he married a British loyalist that he turned to treason.  Her influence has been said to be the reason for his actions.

I sincerely doubt the Lord’s desire was for him to end his life lightly esteemed even to the British, and known in history as a traitor, only second to Judas.

On the other hand, we find lots of examples of women who influenced their husbands to greatness. Right now, I’m thinking about Noah’s wife.

Noah needed lots of support, and no complaining, or whining, or making fun of His vision. Do you realize what the consequences would have been for her negative influence? We may all have been finished before we got started.

With all this on my heart, later that evening, I sat down with one of my daughters to watch a DVD of the Superman series we had been viewing together.

There I was enjoying this good, but corny show with my daughter when guess what the episode was about. In some alternate reality, Clark never meets Lois, but is about to marry his high school sweetheart.  This sweetheart is no sweetie, but ashamed of his amazing gifts.

She convinces Clark to not use these gifts, but hide them instead.  All the good superman could do, and he was handicapped by a complaining, overpowering, and very persuasive bride-to-be.

I knew the Lord was zeroing in on me. I had to admit, that though I am very submissive, humble, supportive and amazing…lol, I could actually see a small part of me in this extremely disgusting character found in Clark’s bride-to-be. All I could think was, forgive me Father for I have sinned.

My prayer is for each of us as wives to take a second look, and ask ourselves some of these questions.

Thank you Lord for always guiding us into all truth! Thank you Lord for keeping our sin ever before us.  Thank you Lord for your great grace!

Thank you Lord for making us the perfect help mates for our husbands so that they achieve the greatness you put into each and every one of them. Continually shine your light on places we need to see more clearly! Amen!

Living Like We Are God’s Children

In the wee morning hours, I got a very interesting picture of life and how we should live as God’s, or whom I prefer to call Yahweh’s, very own children.

It wasn’t new news, but it hit me between the eyes. It happened as I was praying for one of my kids. Of course praying for my angels is a never ending event, considering the Lord blessed me with 13 of the most amazing children on the earth.

I had seen the enemy attack this youngster in many ways. This one had submitted wholly to the Lord’s will in a type of Isaac sacrifice. My child was struggling in areas of confidence, in relationships, and in walking in complete victory.

As I looked back over their life, I wondered where had I missed it.  It seemed to me, that encouragement, training, edification, love, and the Lord’s direction had been sought since this darling was little.  How could our child’s confidence have been diminished by the enemy? How could this be the result of all of my best efforts?

As I lay there praying and talking to the Lord about this, His sweet voice seemed to whisper questions straight from His throne room. Instead of hearing what I needed to do for my precious young one, I was hearing questions regarding us as His children.

These questions echoed as truth began to radiate into my soul. The questions were something like this,

1) Do you see My children without struggle in their confidence, and relationships?

2) Are my children walking in the complete victory I have given them?

3)Do my children act as if no weapon formed against them will prosper?

Then, the questions became more personal.  “Are you walking in the confidence, victory, joy, and blessing I purchased for you? Are you always acting like my princess?  Are you revealing My glory, My power, My mountain-moving faith in every area of your life?”

Wow, these questions were penetrating my inner being.

I love how the Lord communicates everything so clearly, making it so very easy to get. Even when He really, as my kids like to say, “burns” me, I am only thankful and delighted to hear His reproof.

How true is this!  Does the church seem very victorious to the world?  We almost look like the biggest loser.

In the past, the church has suffered losses in elections, on social issues, in our marriages, with our children’s souls, with our pastors and our leaders integrity and witness, and with our very worldy looking failed families. All of these seem to poorly reflect the victory Christ has bought.

We must rise up in the victory we have been gloriously given.  Where is our boldness, and confidence? Isn’t our very own Father the Creator of all things?

Here are some scriptures that we need to set our minds on and grab hold of the His endless supply waiting to be found:

1) 2Tim 1:7 (KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2) Romans 4:20 – 21 (KJV) He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

3) Lu.10:19 (KJV) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

4) 1Jn.5:4 (KJV) For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5) Romans 5:17 (NAS) For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

As I close, I ask you to answer His questions above for yourself.  As our pastor likes to say, then you can repent if your answer does not align with His Word.  Then, make a decision to reign in life from this day, and forevermore.

Bless you all,

Charleen

No Looking Back – No Looking Back

No More Looking Back For Me

Was I looking back like Lot’s wife resulting in sorrow? Gosh, nailed me again. I am really thankful for Holy Spirit’s lessons on what to do and what not to do, and the consequences that develop.

I found myself feeling a bit sorrowful regarding some choices I made in following Christ.  Please, get this straight, it wasn’t the part about following Jesus who I prefer to call Yeshua, because there never really was a choice for me, but it was things that resulted in my life, circumstances, that at the moment seemed a bit hard to deal with.

Waking up this morning, with lots of Holy Spirit assistance, I was remembering Lot’s wife and her mistake of looking back, resulting in her turning into salt.  What a great teaching this is, regarding following the Lord- the safety in it, and the foolishiness of questioning, or looking back at all!

I was feeling completely undone, abit like like the grandfather in Little Lord Fauntleroy when he realized what he had done to his son’s widowed wife. (If you haven’t seen this, it is one of our family favorites, such a loving story!)

All I can say is, Forgive me Father, for I have sinned, and thank you for keeping my sin ever before me! Truly, where would I be without His great amazing ever present GRACE!

It became even clearer, as I began to read in Proverbs 1:23-33 “Turn you at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you; I will make known my words unto you.Because I have called, and ye have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man hath regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, And would none of my reproof:I also will laugh in the day of your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as a storm, And your calamity cometh on as a whirlwind; When distress and anguish come upon you. Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of Jehovah:They would none of my counsel; They despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own devices. For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, And the careless ease of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell securely, And shall be quiet without fear of evil.”

Then, I found myself reading in Luke 17:32-33 “Remember Lot’s wife. Whosoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.”

By the time I began reading Luke 9:62 “But Jesus said unto him: No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”  I had read this Scripture many times before. This time it spoke volumes to how dumb it is to be sorrowful, when you are following Christ.

Holy Spirit reminded me of Luke 9:59-60. “And he said unto another: Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But he said unto him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but go thou and publish abroad the kingdom of God.” It sounds like following Him should take preeminence over all, everything!

Following Christ may not always be easy, but it is always best. When you are tempted to be sorrowful for a second remember Lot’s wife and the result.  The joy of the Lord is our strength.

The Creator of Everything knows everything!  What He wants is the best and our only choice!  The surrounding circumstances will work for good because He promised. If I could only not hate myself right now for letting Him down with such nonsense!

T’was The Night Before Christmas – Not

T’was The Night Before Christmas

Twas The Night Before ChristmasT’was the night before Christmas and all through the house… Brings back all kinds of memories.

No one could have convinced me that I would ever decide to not celebrate Christmas!  There would be no one on earth who could have persuaded me, even with 1,000 bullet points.  Not my family, not my friends, not even my husband could have dared to keep me from celebrating what I saw as the most glorious of holidays, at least, not willingly!

After all this occasion was celebrating My Savior, My Life Giver, My Helper, My Friend, My Redeemer, and My Everything’s birth; and I loved every part of it!

The night before Christmas was to be no more for me, but it didn’t happen overnight. It was a process which I will try to handle with care.

There I was one starry evening, sleeping away, probably with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head. I had a very unusual dream.

In the dream, I saw Santa, like I had never seen Him before.  Santa was evil in my dream, and he was taking worship from My Lord.  It was a very vivid dream, and it woke me up, that’s how frightening it was!  I asked the Lord about it, and He began to lead me down a path I never thought I would go.  This path was leading me out of Christmas, and no more stockings would be hung.

I had no inkling of not celebrating Christmas, but I knew for a fact I needed to forget Santa. I threw everything I had about Santa into the garbage can.  For me to get rid of all the Santas was quite a task.

After all, I was the same person who had purchased a figurine of Santa bowing down to Jesus in the manger for my mom years before.  Now, Santa was like the plague to me. Santa was no longer a merry dude with a little round belly.

Funny how it works, I began hearing from all sorts of places how bad it was to lie to your children period – any kind of lie, even cute little surprise them lies. Lying to them about Santa who is so much like Jesus, and then telling them that  Jesus is real, but Santa is made up. This was really getting to me. The Lord was clearly opening up my shutters!  These thoughts had never occurred to me before.

I really thought that was the worst of it, Yeah! All of that behind me.  Now, I will celebrate Christ’s birth, but NO MORE SANTA!

A few years later, as I was preparing for Christmas, I believe I heard another strange thing from the voice of my God.  He asked me to not celebrate Christmas at all one year.

I agreed, of course. My thoughts were, Oh, I get it, guess He must want me to fast Christmas.  Well, if I could convince my children, we could make it through. They knew about fasting, and the benefits of obedience to the Lord, but this was going to be a tough one, or so I thought.

Actually, I think the kids handled it better than me, and I really believe my husband was completely delighted, I had always called him a bit of a Scrooge!  Was I the only one struggling with this?  Okay, the Lord wants me to fast Christmas this year, and then, it will be over, and I will get back to all the Christmas cheer!  Surely this holiday season would go by more rapid than eagles.

When what to my wondering eyes did appear, more reasons for not ever celebrating came to my ear.  First, it was shocking how many people the Lord brought upon my path to confirm His wishes through teachings, conversations, or personally.

It was like every Christmas tradition was being smashed to bits. The Lord was confirming to me over and over again His wishes for me and my family.

The whole origin of this celebration was becoming suspect, in spite of myself. One thing after the other began falling in my lap. Preachers whom I respected were confirming what I felt the Lord was telling me in my quiet times.

Everything I thought was so precious about this event, was dashing away, dashing away, dashing away all! It was amazing, how the Lord began to put the pieces of a puzzle in place when I was able to listen.

Am I saying that you should decide to not celebrate Christmas?  I don’t really know.

All I know is, as dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly, the Lord has led me down this path. I have decided to not celebrate Christmas, and there is no turning back, no turning back!

Why I No Longer Celebrate Halloween

Do You Still Celebrate Halloween?

It’s the time of year to celebrate halloween. I USED to think of halloween as good family fun. My church would even have a haunted house as a fund raiser during this time. How do you celebrate halloween?

To celebrate halloween, I would dress up in some ugly garb to scare all the visitors who came by. I looked something like a type of spider woman. It was nothing like the Spiderman we all know and love today.

After I became a born again Christian, the Holy Spirit began to guide me into a very different direction regarding this seemingly harmless celebration.

Why do we celebrate halloween? Where did this whole idea come from?

Celebrate Halloween History

Around 2,000 years ago, the Celts had a festival commemorating the end of their year on October 31st. They believed on this night that a door between the living and the dead was open. They believed this door allowed spirits of the dead to mingle with them, to possess people, and to cause all kinds of trouble.

The Celts offered food and drink to aid the spirits, or sometimes ward them away. They dressed up in outlandish costumes and roamed the neighborhoods.

Other strange customs involved moving gates and fences, women dressing as men, men dressing as women, as well as other trickeries now associated with halloween.

The Celtics honored the dead during this time. A central bonfire was always lit to honor the pagan gods. Fairies were believed to roam the land as beggars asking for food. Those who did not give were punished by them. This lines up with our modern practice of “trick or treat”.

Today, as a way to celebrate halloween, many of these same practices continue at neighborhood halloween parties.

As you can see, halloween’s history is all pagan.  This celebration of darkness has only gained more and more evil practices. Today, witches still gather to celebrate and sacrifice offerings to pagan gods on that night.

In a recent article on Crosswalk.com, a former witch commented,  “Many kids get their first exposure to the occult with horror movies at halloween parties. After the initial exposure to the occult some children are attracted to the occult because of the power it offers them.”

Celebrate Halloween No More?

Another self-described former “eclectic witch,” said in a recent interview, that when he first came to faith in Christ, the reason he hated halloween so much was because of his sensitivity to the occult symbolism associated with it.

He said, “As the costumes got more and more grotesque and more celebratory of darkness, it bothered me a lot. I knew what was on the other side and I knew it was real.”

As my conviction grew about this issue, I knew I could no longer celebrate halloween. I knew that I could “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11).

I then began to wonder should Christians celebrate halloween. There isn’t anything about this that honors the Lord. Is this just a playful or harmless fun activity?

I strongly urge you to take a good look at this.

Once my eyes were opened, there was no turning back for me. The Lord continually confirmed His desire for me to have nothing to do with this, over and over again. Despite much opposition from others and acting as if I was the loco one, I knew it wasn’t going to be a part of my life.

Lord, guide us into all truth by your Holy Spirit.  May we have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but may we expose them.
