Happy Cheshvan!

The new moon celebrations are also referred to as Firstfruits celebrations, which also has the Hebrew name Rosh Chodesh, meaning head of the month. We believe that participating in these celebrations month to month allows us to step into an amazing cycle of moving from God’s blessing to blessing, favor to favor.

Just like we have done for years and years with the western calendar for New Years on January 1st, Firstfruits is a chance to repeatedly prepare and build up expectation and excitement for the month ahead. It’s like having 12 new years during the year but the point of these celebrations is not having drunken parties, but to start off each month by honoring and remembering our Lord and giving Him the firstfruits of our time.

Chuck Pierce with Glory of Zion Ministries in Texas puts it this way: “Firstfruits is a time to enter into the power of celebration. We are not only free to give our “best” or first of our blessings, but also to receive revelation and come alive with expectation that will help us prosper in all things for the new month ahead.”

The giving of the first of our increase is a Biblical principal which is different than the tithe. We see this principle in Joshua 6:19 whereby the spoil of the city of Jericho was to be placed in the treasury of the Lord. This is also described in Nehemiah 10: 35-37 regarding the produce of the land and of their livestock. In Deut. 26:10-11, we see instruction on making a beautiful declaration to the Lord of ” rejoicing in every good thing which the Lord has given to you and your house…”

Here are some highlights or firstfruits principles:

  • when we honor and remember Yahweh, He honors us (Deut. 26:19)
  • we are remembering that El Shaddai is our source (Deut. 8, James 1:17)
  • giving of the first to the Lord makes the rest holy (Romans 11:16)
  • opens the door to an overflow of blessings (Ezekiel 44:30 and Proverbs 3:9-10)
  • Yeshua rose from the dead on the feast of firstfruits (1 Cor. 15:20, Leviticus 23)
  • this monthly cycle of blessings builds momentum and holy expectation
  • a monthly invitation from Yahweh to all flesh (Is. 66:23)
  • time to receive monthly revelation to advance in the Lord’s anointing
  • not to be viewed legalistically, but as a forerunner to Yeshua in all His glory (Col. 2:16-17)

We are extending an invitation to add this anointed time of celebration to your calendar and watch the “pleasant lines” of new favor and wisdom and prosperity fall upon you. (Ps. 16:6)

A start to another new month and a new time to begin again, as the Lord continually shows us His mercies are brand new every morning. Especially during this month remember how our faithful God keeps His covenant to us.

This was the month of the flood and God’s covenant rainbow in the sky. He has kept His promise ever since. I love this scripture that talks about it Isaiah 54:9-10 “For this is?like?the waters of Noah to Me, as I swore that the waters of Noah would not flood the earth again; In the same way I have sworn that I will not be angry with you nor will I rebuke you. For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My loving kindness will not be removed from you, nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,” says the?Lord?who has compassion on you.

Head of the Month – Firstfruits

Giving the Lord our firsts is really a simple process. It is summed up in Matthew 6:33 “Seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness and all things will be added to you.” It has been truly an honor to give the Lord the first of our day, first of our week, first of our month, first of our fruits (money coming in, gifts given to us, time, etc.) On day one of this new month in God’s calendar let’s give Him our best.

Confession: You get all of my firsts. Nothing is too hard for You!
