Conclusion of the Feast of Tabernacles
John 7:37-38 “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying,“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
Leviticus 23: 36 “For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.”
This was the 8th day after the 7 days of the Feast of Tabernacles when the high priest would walk through the city with a pitcher of water to pour it out in the temple. The whole city would follow him and pray with anticipation for rain for future harvests.
People had gathered to celebrate and this 8th day was the great conclusion of the feast in which Yeshua declared that He was the Living Water. He attended His Father’s feast and invited the people to come to Him.
The invitation is still open every day for us to draw closer to Him and to drink from His well of living water. Christ is the ONLY One who can truly satisfy our hunger and thirst for real life.
Prayer: Father, May Your Living Water flow out of my heart, and become a spring of water in me that continually flows and bubbles within me to eternal life.
Confession: I believe in You, out of my heart flows rivers of living water!
