Passover – The Plunder of Worldly Wealth

The Lord had told Moses what would happen in Exodus 3:21-22 as the people were leaving Egypt and that the Egyptians would be plundered. So Moses told the Israelites to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold and clothing.  The Egyptians did so because the Lord had given His people favor in their sight.

This sounds like  a very unusual occurrence as we take a close look at the celebration of Passover. Scripture says that this happened because the Lord gave them favor, not because they were such good people. The Lord did not want them leaving Egypt empty-handed, feeling like poor, neglected children. This event was very significant to the Lord because He was starting the process of bringing His people to their place of Promise.

What does this event in history history almost 3400 years ago have to do with us as Christians today? It has to do with the favor of the Lord upon our lives and us fulfilling our mission as Ambassadors for Christ and walking into our promised land.

Their is so much working against us in our culture and quite frankly, we believe that without the favor of the Lord upon our lives, we will not be very successful or fruitful as agents of change in this world.

We are here to propose to you that Yahweh wants His children to be favored when it comes to wealth so that we are using our resources for His Kingdom work. If we are regularly tied up with finding provision to take care of ourselves (housing, food, transportation, etc.), then we are being pulled away for our true calling too often.

We will conclude with a simple question? As Christians, are we to be walking in our Heavenly Father’s favor and gaining supernatural access to wealth that will allow us to fund and participate in His Kingdom work in greater and greater ways?
